April thru December, 2009

Tour will originate in the Kingsport/Johnson City/Bristol/Abingdon area.

How exciting! Everything you've heard is true. Now start packing. We're heading for Charleston located near the middle of the South Carolina coast.

One of the highlights will be a guided tour through some of the most interesting and historic parts of the city. The Historic Downtown District has stood throughout Charleston's history as the cultural capital of the South and is considered by many to be a living museum. The number of historic sites in Charles ton is astonishing. You will be priviledged to experience Charleston and her history as you enjoy a gourmet dinner on a harbor cruise.

A tour of Middleton Place, a National Historic Landmark, and a carefully preserved 18th-century plantation will enthrall you. It has survived the revolution and the Civil War. Fort Sumter National Monument is also on your itinerary. The first shot of the American Civil War didn't hit anything. It was a 10-inch mortar shell that exploded above Fort Sumter as a signal for Confederate artillery to open fire on the Union -held fort.

You will be amazed when you visit the Hunley Exhibit. Courage, innovation, and fortitude is what powered the H. L. Hunley the night she became the first submarine to sink an enemy ship in world history. Another highlight of your trip will be a visit to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. Founded in 1676 it has survived the centuries and witnessed the history of our nation unfold before it from the American Revolution through the Civil War and beyond. It is the oldest public tourist site in the Lowcountry, and the oldest public gardens in America.
